Welcome to our new website
The purpose of this site can be summed up in three words - inform, educate and promote. Until you actually visit our church its beauty and magnificence can only be partially understood. Few people realise what a gem we have in Croydon because it is lost amongst the clutter of architectural monstrosities! Without exception, the visitors to our church claim that it is an oasis of prayer and holiness and that they have emerged filled with peace and serenity. There are many events and activities associated with this church, and you will find them detailed on this site but our main purpose - as with all Christian people -is to proclaim God's love for His world. In the rich and dignified liturgy we try to capture the majesty and glory of Heaven; in our music we enhance the liturgy with a comprehensive repertoire of mass settings; with the Father Willis organ we listen as the music ascends to the very heavens with its rich sounds. The Church of St Michael and All Angels with St James stands proudly in the Catholic Tradition and makes no concession to the cocophonous modernity of liturgy and theology. The clergy are here to help you in any way and their e-mail addresses are listed if you would like to make contact with them.It is our hope that your visit to this site will arouse a curiosity which may have been dormant and that that in turn will bring you to the outstretched arms of Christ who offers to all who will accept His unconditional love. There was recently a poster campaign on London buses which proclaimed "there is probably no God" - a visit to this church, hallowed by prayer and worship, will convince you of the fallacy of that erroneous message.
May God grant you that which you seek With every blessing and good wish
